5 "Edit" entry reformats HTML - ID: 1173403
Last Update: Comment added ( nobody )

The normal entry edition tab reformats the HTML code.

I usually type my html directly (in the "edit <HTML>"
tab). In Thingamablog 1.0.2 there was a "preview" tab,
which allowed me to have a quick look at the good
formatting of my code.
But now the preview has disappeared. To have a preview,
I have to go to the "Edit" tab... which reformats all
my code :(((

This actually wouldn't be so much annoying if only the
accentuated characters weren't transformed into html
entities. I write my blog in french, which use a lot of
a accentuated chars (acute, grave, circumflex), and the
text become absolutely unreadable !

This is probably even worse in languages that use only
non-ascii chars, such as russian, hebrew or arabic.
This conversion is of course unuseful if the charset is
correctly set (utf-8, ...)

This is very, very, very annoying. Could you please put
back this preview screen in next release ? I think it
would be easyer to do that than correcting the editing
mode, but it would still be useful to correct it, as it
waste space and bandwidth for nothing.

I also confirm that translating accentuated characters into HTML
entities is very annoying, and unuseful when using UTF-8.

It is also not consistent: if I cut and paste Japanese characters
encoded in UTF-8 into the editor, they do not get translated into
entities like French accentuated characters.

For that specific problem, I am asking for an option for deactivating
the translation of characters into entities.
It is perhaps easier at first than preventing reformatting. ;)

I propose to put that option in the journal options, below the list of
character encodings.
