5 gphoto2 2.1.5 error getting video - Kodak DX7440 - ID: 1162373
Last Update: Comment added ( marcusmeissner )

I am using gphoto2 2.1.5 on Debian, with a Kodak
DX7440. Normally it all works fine, but, sometimes
when grabbing video it crashes.

I've attached the output from running

"env LANG=C gphoto2 --debug --debug --get-all-files"

Let me know if I can provide more information.

this is now applied to both HEAD and 2.1.6 branch.

will be in 2.1.6 rc2 and 2.1.6 final.

How about splitting for multiple reads in ptp_read_func()?

We do already split for two in ptp_usb_getdata().

the problem is that the usb driver has an 8 second timeout
that triggers when reading large files.

usb 1 can just do 15megabit/s at max, so for movies larger than 1x
MB libusb 0.10 will timeout during reading.

Make sure you use libusb 0.1.8 and not 0.1.10+.

0.1.10 is known to have bugs and problesm. It has
fundamental differences in the low level and the software
might not work correctly with it.

I have exactly the same problem,
I can download the pictures but not the video.
And I never noticed this before.
I am under debian unstable and my camera is "Canon IXUS IIs
(PTP mode)"

Oops, I omit to say that my camera is : "Kodak EasyShare CX
7430"

If works flawlessly on pictures, And the error message is :

gp_port_read: Resource temporarily unavailable

*** Error ***
PTP I/O error
*** Error (-1: 'Unspecified error') ***

I am also affected but this bug (is it debian specific ?)
but what is bugging me is that i never noticed that before.

Are there other ptp transfering software to compare ?

I may add various info at http://rzr.online.fr/q/EasyShare
