Gallery

It would be nice to get some movement on this - there are patches at
http://gallery.menalto.com/node/75321
http://gallery.menalto.com/node/58721
to get some information for Nikon and Canon lenses at least. You can
apply them pretty easily to an existing Gallery installation, but that's
kind of a pain. Someone who knows more about EXIF and Gallery2 could
hopefully make sure they're sensible - as it is, there seems to be
confusion about what "Lens" "LensType" and "LensInfo" should be, especially
when cross referenced with what exiftool reports. I'd be happy to generate
a patch file or whatnot if that would be useful.

I'd like to see this too, as my Nikon D70 supports it.
exifprobe calls it LensInfo, which has attributes
MinFocalLength, MaxFocalLength, MaxApertureAtMinFocalLength,
and MaxApertureAtMaxFocalLength. For a zoom lens, I shouldd
get something like 18-70mm, f/3.5-5.6, whereas with a prime
lens, I should see something like 30mm, f/1.4 (basically no
range if max and min are the same).

Exiftool (perl module) correctly pulls the info out of the
EXIF headers - see here:

I would also like to see this added in the next G2 update. "Lens"
information is a
fairly common metadata field now created by DSLR's, but the Gallery exif
parser
does not support the option.
