5 write unicode data - ID: 1080213
Last Update: Comment added ( bkline )

the perl Spreadsheet::WriteExcel module allows one to
write unicode data in UTF-16BE (or LE) format. It
would be nice if pyXLWriter allowed the same.

Is the maintainer of this module still alive?

Obviously when I wrote my previous comment I was unaware
that the priority numbers here are backwards from the usage
in Bugzilla (and the reverse of the common semantics
reflected by the language "... this is my #1 priority ...").
Nevertheless, I would still be very grateful if we could
get some indication as to the progress on updating this
module to support the functionality contained in the current
version of the original Perl module. Please?!?

Bob

Is there any possibility the priority for this request could be
raised from 5? It's puzzling that the priority for the request
to read Excel files is set to the highest possible value,
when that functionality, while desirable in itself, it beyond
the scope of this module, whereas the ability to support
international character sets has become a standard requirement
for contemporary software.
