No special character can be displayed in Avogadro 0.97 under Windows like ä or ö.
Don't you use Unicode?

    Of course we do use Unicode. It's not clear why the accents disappeared in 0.9.7 on Windows.

    This, however, is a duplicate of bug 2824967, so I'm merging them.
