5 Project web services issue - ID: 1262669
Last Update: Settings changed ( zigler )

Hello there,
My postNuke installation seems to be down, problems
started to happen on around the 14th.

Is it possible to recover from backups (of 13th August
2005) and replace everything inside:

/home/groups/c/cs/csopf/htdocs/

I have not made any changes to the site for over 2
months, and most of the data is still in the mysql db.

The error I get is :

Fatal error: Smarty error: unable to write to
$compile_dir
'/home/groups/c/cs/csopf/htdocs/pnTemp/Xanthia_compiled'.
Be sure $compile_dir is writable by the web server
user. in
/home/groups/c/cs/csopf/htdocs/includes/classes/Smarty/Smarty.class.php
on line 1083

Ive read some online forums and suspect its the
xmlrpc.php which may have caused some remote attacks to
break the site.

Prior to that I also made sure that I 'chmod 777 -R
pnTemp' as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I will
have to rebuild the site again from scratch..

Thanks and Regards to the team at sf.net.

yk.

Thank you very much.
I have created a dir at /tmp/persistent
for postNuke to use, and everything is back to normal!

Greetings,
On Monday morning we made a change to our project web servers
remounting all home directories to read-only for security
reasons. This change was originally slated for 2005-02 but
was postponed until 2005-08. More information may be found
in our Site Status:

( 2005-08-11 13:17:39 - Project Web Service ) As per the
previous announcement in the sitewide newsletter sent on
2005-02-28, the project home directories on the project web
servers will be mounted read-only on 2005-08-15 at 9:00 AM.
We highly recommend moving to a database storage mechanism
(the MySQL server we provide) or the new directory tree
provided for all data writing needs from the project web
servers. This operation is described in the following site
document:
https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=4297&group_i
d=1#permissions

The change was made on Monday morning:

( 2005-08-15 10:53:57 - Project Web Service ) Inquiries
regarding Internal Service Errors should be directed to the
administrator for the project managing that project web
site; some web-based applications (maintained by individual
projects) will malfunction due to the read-only remount of
the project group directories; data needs to be moved to the
project MySQL database, or the /tmp/persistent directory
structure as per
https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=4297&group_i
d=1#permissions

If you have any further questions please let us know.

Thank you,
