Dear List,
When I'm using evolution to check my E-mails,
If it is downloaded the E-mails and I read, after that
I access my mails through squirrel mail those emails
which I have read are still showing as new. I think
these have to be set as read.

This may not be a problem with SquirrelMail.

Please verify that you are checking your mail via Evolution
using the IMAP protocol, and verify that your IMAP server is
being correctly updated with the read status of your mail.

If the IMAP server is using EXIM, there are known issues
with preservation of status flags, which is open under
another tracker item.

If you are using a different IMAP server, then reopen this
defect with the output of the bugreport plugin, and perhaps
use the info plugin to retrieve information about how the
IMAP server responds to requests.
