8 setting wallpaper from terminal breaks launch - ID: 3578503
Last Update: Comment added ( lstranger )

when setting the wallpaper from the terminal still does change the wallpaper but you will not be able to double click and or open pcmanfm directly. either from the double clicking on the icon or from the terminal directly.

no errors are reported from the terminal when trying to launch pcmanfm just returns to the prompt but nothing opens

like i said this only occurs after you changed the wallpaper from the terminal

however a clue may exist. i noticed that after you change the wallpaper from the terminal you can't launch pcmanfm from the terminal but you can launch it as root..

hope that helps

thx

We hope this issue is completely fixed in the Git repository recently.

reopen the report, please.
Thank you very much.

Similar problem is reported in lubuntu-users mailing list -
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2012-October/002733.html.
I'm afraid it just crashes. May be it's provoked by something in Lubuntu
12.10. I would like if you could help me. The least you can do is running
the command in terminal:

killall pcmanfm && pcmanfm --desktop --profile lubuntu

and see if it will print some messages or crash (it should stay running, if
it returns to prompt then it crashed). If it crashes then I would like you
to gather core file and analyze crash with gdb.
Thank you very much.

This is the command I'm using bash -c 'pcmanfm -w "$(find
~/Pictures/Wallpapers -type f | shuf -n1)"' I'm running the new Lubuntu
12.10 with the latest pcmanfm

What version of pcmanfm do you use? Some similar problem was fixed half of
year ago.

Works just fine here in Fedora with libfm/pcmanfm from git.
If you're using some old pcmanfm version maybe it had this bug or it could
be your distro's bug.
