5 Archive support with 7-Zip plugins - ID: 3167410
Last Update: Comment added ( horkana )

7-Zip is an open-source and very popular archive reader. CDisplayEx is a comic reader listed in SourceForge, with active releases but without any source files uploaded SF. It can support a variety of archives using 7-Zip plugins. I would like to suggest that the open-source 7-Zip project be taken advantage of in the development of Comix.

I'm currently using Windows and moving to Ubuntu soon, and it'd be fantastic to have a comic reader that can support the variety of archives out htere.

For best compatibility I strongly recommend you use ZIP/CBZ archive format.

The developer of Comix has not been active since 2009 so new features are
not likely to be added officially.

If you are a programmer there are special custom versions of Comix (see the
Patches section in the tracker for Comix on Sourceforge) that have added
7-zip support.

You might also want to take a look at QComicBook.

I know QComicBook is included in Ubuntu (although I'm not sure they have
added the most up to date version which includes 7-zip support)
