I have written a fairly long reply to the various parts
of this. Would you like me to post it?
I am still working on getting a Linux system that will
run gcc-2.95 .
I will have a play around over Christmas and send you
some patches in the New Year.
As I mentioned earlier, I suspect that automake/autoconf
needs updating - committing a ./configure is a work around.
The configure.in is missing a number of features.
Personally I would consider using a config.h - but this
would mean touching every .cpp file.
Onced these were are fixed, updating the code to
work on later versions of GCC would be fairly easy.
I am not sure whether working with Mac OS X or with
GCC 3.n should be done first.
There are also a few things in the web pages that
could be improved.
