To the person who said that this project only exists to upsell a commercial version, you are *partially* correct. There is a commercial version of the software available. However, if you are willing to take the time to learn and develop Zenoss Core, you can mold it quite nicely to do whatever you need (and I'm not even a coder by trade, anyone with scripting experience who is willing to devote time to learning the product can do this). I manage 8 Zenoss Core servers monitoring over 1000 devices. Everything from Cisco gear, HP Switches, Windows Servers, Linux Servers, etc... It works perfectly fine. What you are ultimately paying for with the Professional and Enterprise versions is the support and certain enterprise features (which can be duplicated in Core with enough work). The beauty of this project is that there is an actual company driving it. It is extremely well maintained. Development occurs at a pace that is far superior to your average open source project. This is an excellent piece of software, and you really need to work with it for more than a day or a week to fully appreciate it.

Been using both Enterprise and Open Source versions. Both are great, but Enterprise version, in some areas, falls behind Solarwinds. I use open source version to monitor communication devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc) and use the Enterprise for application monitoring.
