I am not at all sure about XOSL2. There were volunteers signed up to develop it, but as with many volunteer projects on sourceforge, development time may be limited. Also, the lack of interest from users/testers and their feedback and input can be discouraging to devs and potential devs.
One factor is of course that XOSL is alive and well and living at Yahoo groups. That group list remains continuously active and, in its own way, is actually supporting XOSL. The group is "General discussion list for the Extended Operating System Loader (XOSL)" which is at
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/xosl/ (That was always the focal point of XOSL from fairly early in its development if I understand the history correctly.)
I have no idea whether the devs here have contact with the regular users (especially Antoine) over there, but it would seem useful for them to at least be active readers of that group.
What is certain is that XOSL has continued to work despite all the technical changes which have occurred since its inception and has many users. The fact that it does so may explain to the potential devs why the apparent lack of interest in XOSL2.
