MeD's Movie Manager

Love the Movie Manager. But... I am using the Access database and find the initial load and any list refresh extremely slow. Is this normal?

I actually wrote a VB front end to the same database and there is virtually no lag. With over 2000 movie/TV titles in the database Med's MM takes at least 30 seconds to load. Same when refreshing any list. With my front end it is instantaneous. Is there a setting that will speed up the queries? Or is it a Java/Access thing? Is everything getting loaded into memory?

It's so bad now that I'm now only using Med to pull information from IMDB and using my own app for viewing and querying.

With that many movies, MS Access has proven to be very slow. Have you tried HSQL database? You can convert your current database to HSQL.

Can you send me an email so I can answer you back so that you can send me your database? ;-) That would be good for testing.
