Hello.
1. The requirements should be in the documentation found in bundled w/ the software. Anyways, you need to use linux to run this currenlty. Also, the BTTV driver needs to be installed (it is standard on most distros at this point). Whatever video capture card BTTV supports, then this software will support as well.
2. Automatic commercal skipping is a very diffecult task; however, we have a 30 second skip (forward or reverse) button that will get you through a commercial set with a few clicks.
3. The Dynamic recording feature used to work but we were getting our tv listings from yahoo (parsing the webpage). But they have changed their html and so that our parser no longer works. So this feature is disabled. When we get some time, there is a site out there that we can use to get this information for free in a very easy and simple format. Hopefully by the summer we can get this implemented and back on track.
4. We have no feature for burning. I think burning cds is a completely seperate issue and should remain in differnt software. Sorry.
5. As of right now, timeshiting is not enabled. That is a very good feature and alot of other PVR's do that but we haven't invested the time to add that feature. That might be something that gets added later.
Well, this was our senior research project at Clemson Unv. We wrote it mostly in Java except for the communication to the video capture card (wrote that in C).
I'm sorry for the slowness of this project. We had a lot implemented last summer but really haven't had alot of time to work on it since - we are both in graduate school now and new projects are taking our time up.
