  • Comment: Several questions about about the z_xpe-

for #2, I see where it is commented out in custom.inf and shouldn't have a CMD shortcut. However, in xpe-defaults.inf there is this section: ; Desktop 0x0,"Sherpya\XPEinit\Desktop" 0x2,"Sherpya\XPEinit\Desktop","@shell32.dll,-22022","%comspec%" maybe that's how CMD gets to the Desktop...

  • Comment: RIS client making invaild tftp filerequest

I had a programmer look at the hex of the tftp read request packet in question, and he said that the hex is a number sequence 6a [38+k] eb for k=0,1,2.. He thinks it is some kind of synchronization. Is that any clue to the puzzle?.

  • RIS client making invaild tftp filerequest

The client says file (unreadable) is corrupt or missing, status 21 I've tried it with atftp and tftp-hpa, tried coping the Windows (and Win startup files) from several different CD both SP2 and SP3 I modify the Windows startup files according to this guide: http://oss.netfarm.it/guides/ris-linux.php It's running off a Intel Gigabit NIC (82572EI) running e1000e module. • Comment: Ghost32

You can close this ticket. After determining what is locking the drive, I can use unlocker to kill the process and then ghost the image. I wanted to find out why this behavior occurs, but I am not sure that it can be remedied. It appears the XPE Explorer can detect a process on the drive that should not be running or detectable. Others have googled the same error as above without...

  • Comment: Ghost32

I did some more research on this using file unlocker during an xpe offline boot session and it appears what is locking the C Drive is the "System Volume Information" folder. I stopped the lock with unlocker and could then ghost the hard drive. Later, I deleted the files inside the system volume folder and that seemed to work also. I need to do some more research with shadow copy etc, but will...

Do you wish to attempt to force a dismount on the volume? ALL OPEN HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID" I can ghost D Partition ok. Try to ghost C Partition gives error. bartpe original bare disk works ok no...

  • Altiris SVS Plugin

Has anyone thought of making a altiris SVS plugin for windows PE. If you are not familiar with the tool, it allows you to import a package, installing the package in a virtual layer visible to the OS, while residing at the same time in a sandbox. This would be a universal solution for using ANY program with windows PE. Here is the license key URL...

  • RIS-Linux-0.4 + WinPE on Gentoo

I've got this working but there is a lot of renaming of things. I tried using the patch supplied (tftp-hpa-filecase.diff), had to make a few changes to it but it is failing since there was a minor release since this diff was generated. Would it be possible to generate another diff for tftp-hpa-0.49? Output and reject below: PATCH COMMAND: patch -p1 -g0 -E --no-backup-if-mismatch
