I use Winlame since 2001 and use it until today. Never had a crash or driver conflict. Winlame and Audacity are safer and faster then other conversion software. No background connections to the internet!

Just a thing: I'd like to see more low-level options, and the stereo mode setting (I didn't like the Joint Stereo quality). So I think I am going to the bunglesome command line...

winLAME worked first go. It's so simple to convert a large number of files. I used explorer to search for wma files then dragged and dropped them. I set it to delete the wma files and place the output in the same folder as the original. There are not many choices to select from, the ones that are there are prefect for my needs.

Perl script - fname.pl
This is a small script for changing large numbers of filenames at once. Change any part of the filename or extension. Rename the files or copy them to the new name and retain the original. There's a switch for testing the results before committing.
