Visual information is the best kind of information, and this application does that perfectly.

Heavily rely on this for visual assessment of what is taking up space and where. Glad this exists for the Windows platform and glad it is open source

Excellent tool, very helpful for cleaning up as well as figuring out EXACTLY what that one huge file was that took up the whole of an HDD :)

Excellent program for finding errant files that may be eating up your drive space. Over months or years, I find that I've downloaded a lot of stuff and then forgotten about it. I also have some "working" files that I sometimes forget to delete afterward. This is great for finding those old files you have forgotten about and will help you identify them and free up drive space. The app seems pretty polished and looks nice. You can't beat free $ and open source for an app that works this well and looks this nice.

A lifesaver! Symantec was taking up literally 250GB on my hard drive with worthless quarantined program files, never would have found out without this tool.

Very good tool to find why a dir that should contains 100kb of data weights 100mb instead. I like to use it when I need to do some cleaning when a drive is running out of space !

For those wanting context menu (right-click) integration, the following will enable scanning a folder or an entire drive with WinDirStat, just paste into Notepad, save it with whatever name you want adding “.reg” at the end, then run it: <code> Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\windirstat] @="WinDirStat Here" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\windirstat\command] @="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\WinDirStat\\windirstat.exe\" \"%1\"" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\windirstat] @="WinDirStat Here" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\windirstat\command] @="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\WinDirStat\\windirstat.exe\" \"%1\"" </code> Make sure to change both instances of <code>C:\\Program Files (x86)\\WinDirStat\\windirstat.exe</code> if WinDirStat is installed in a different location.
