Just wanted to say when I first downloaded this I didn't think much of it. After spending 30 mins. last night trying to find a missing GB on my hard drive i installed this and found it instantly...this is going straight to my admin. utility disk.

I'd like to second those comments. An extremely simple and usable tool combined with the kind of gorgeous functionality that M$ can't seem to find anywhere. Bravo

I was introduced to this app by the CDROM that comes each month with a magazine subscription (MaximumPC). This app IS worth its weight in gold: I was only able to discover why my main drive was so much larger in size than the files listed would indicate because of this app. Apparently Windows saves in a hidden directory copies of any .tif files that I paste into Word docs. These copies reside in a hidden folder called "content.MSO" that's located in the directory "Temporary Internet Files." Now when I say hidden, I'm not some newb who doesn't have all the usual suspects toggled to be visible. But THIS folder only showed up in WinDirStat; couldn't find any mention of content.MSO in the registry. All I can say is..."we're not worthy, we're not worthy!"

this is by far one of the greatest programs that I have ever seen for my computer. I am an audio engineer so my computer needs to be as fast as I can make it. I heard that the harddrive should remain at 90% or higher for the most effient use (is this true?) I googled something about HD space retrieval and the first thing I found was "this!!!" Thank you who ever you are!!!!!!!!
This should come bundled with every new computer.
Love it. Our server almost ran out of disk space last week. WinDirStat helped us identify the things that were using the most space and where they were located. The clickable graphic map is invaluable.
