Excellent tool for cleaning up the files taking lots of space on your hdd. Good work!

I like this utility, HOWEVER --- like it's lookalike (kdirstat), it lacks the ability to simply print the report. You are locked into using Outlook or Outlook Express so that you can email a report to yourself (similar to kdirstat's lock-in to kmail as a report delivery method).

This is an EXCELLENT resource if you're trying to decide what is old, what is useful, and what needs to be backed up and removed from a hard drive. It gives you an easy way to see the impact of certain files, by type, by size etc. And the visual representation is fabulously intuitive!!! When you're running out of disk space on a LARGE hard drive, you may have forgotten about some set of backups you put on there, that take up 50 GIGS... it was just temporary, but now you don't realize where the space is getting all used up... WinDirStat to the rescue. You can see the giant folder, and make sure it's backd up and blammo! you got your disk space freed up. It's just AWESOME!

This is one of those ageless gems you find from time to time. If you are helping people to set up programs, partitions, and drives, this is exactly the tool you can use to see what they have and where it is. The colours are a gaudy riot, a bit of fun on the side while you are doing serious work. If you like Nir Sofer's utilities or those of Alex Nolan, I'll bet you find yourself very happy with Oliver Schneider's WinDirStat.

I've installed this marvel on a server. It works miracles when you are running out of space and have to go hunting for the user/application hogging your disk space.
