Annotate With Jarnal plug-in for Wikindx

Hi, sirfragalot. First of all, thanks very much for writing and maintaining such a great software application. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I've recently made public a Wikindx module that I had written for myself and have been using for some time. Its purpose is to allow the [Jarnal][1] open source note-taking application to be launched from within Wikindx for annotating PDF file attachments, and more importantly, to store the annotations created by Jarnal with the PDF files themselves. The source code for the module is currently [hosted on launchpad.net][2]. It's probably not mature enough to be added to the [extras][3] page, but it gets the job done, and I'm curious to know if anyone else would be interested in such a thing. I've written up [some notes][4] about the module as well. It's usable, but I'd like to improve it, so I have a question. Is it possible for a module to modify the bibliographical entry pages to add a link or button next to every PDF attachment (or attachment of whatever type)? And if so, what is the best way to do it? Currently, the user is required to copy/paste the PDF file's URL, which is an ugly way of doing things. (But then, until recently I was also the only user, and I haven't complained. ;) ) [1]: http://www.dklevine.com/general/software/tc1000/jarnal.htm [2]: https://launchpad.net/annotatewithjarnal [3]: http://wikindx.sourceforge.net/extras.html [4]: http://stargrads.net/blogs/davinci/2009/09/annotate-with-jarnal-plug-in-module-for-wikindx/

Hi, That looks really neat from reading the notes. I'll try to download it and try it out myself later today. In v3.8, it's not very easy to add HTML content to individual pages. It will become easier with v4 which uses Smarty templates and gives a lot of display control to the admin. However, for v3.8 you could try using the inline-plugin code (see docs) which at least allows the addition of HTML content to the top or bottom of individual pages. Mark

I'll look at the inline plugin docs, although links added to the top or bottom of a page would probably not be seen by a user. The Smarty templates is a great idea, I actually had a great deal of trouble getting Wikindx to use a [theme][1] that looked like the rest of my web site. [1]: http://stargrads.net/bibliography/

Let me know when you think the module is mature enough and I'll add it to the extras. Mark
