Mike,
I'm always interested in help from other people. Adding IR support is not difficult. The problem is that I still can not find a perfect IR hardware solution yet.
I think only an IR product with open standard would help this community. That's why I would like to only implement LIRC support. If you have any good idea let me know.
BTW, the new version is on the way. I'm too lazy recently to finish the last piece. It has a GUI theme editor, which enables user to customize their frontend with ANY look and feel they like. Here is a screen shot.
