webEdition is a WCMS (Web Content Management System) written in PHP and using MySQL. It is the perfect CMS for website creators and administrators, who wish to manage their websites comfortably with an extemely flexible and extensible CMS.
Some things I don't like: Quality of code is bad. When you login, you will get a frameset and a java (?) navigation. On my installation I get errors about certificates. The backend looks nice, but is not usable without the mouse. There are no context menus where you would except them (right click in tree area). It takes some time until you find the menu item for creating a new page. Although documentation tells me there is a plugin system, I can not find where to get plugins. To me, it looks like the system is architected a long time ago and then only features have been added. Maybe because it was a commercial cms ? If it doesn't matters how the backend is implemented technically and if you need only basic functionality, it's a good cms... I didn't want to give you a thumb down, but you should take a look at your codebase and refresh it a bit. A js-menu wouldn't require that java stuff for example. Personally, I would prefer Typo3, since they have an easy plugin installer and a more modern backend. Also, the code seems to be more up-to-date. But I dunno what you guys are planning - I have seen no branch for a 6.1 version or a roadmap.
Worth to take a look at - especially the good usability fits good to my customers. Since using webEdition, unpaid support about using a cms went down drastically. Thanks for this project!
The best CMS by far!
