VYM (View Your Mind) is a tool to generate and manipulate maps which show your thoughts. Such maps can help you to improve your creativity and effectivity. You can use them for time management, to organize tasks, to get an overview over complex contexts
I have used VYM and FreeMind both for a few years now. I cannot give any clear indication that one is "better" than the other, and both could use the same set of missing features. The transform to TaskJuggler is very helpful, but would be moreso if there was an option to configure it, rather than having a ton of useless commented options show up. Since TJ lacks a design GUI, being able to add structure to the nodes in VYM which can translate into TJ would be a huge benefit.
After trying numerous mindmapping applications, the only two I use are this one and the mindmeister website. The reason I use mindmeister is because it allows editing multi-line nodes--a feature I sorely miss in VYM. Are there any plans to add multi-line node editing to VYM? That would be a major improvement!
nice program, great idea for creating mind map but I apologize that it doesn't have version for Windows ;/
very useful and has many shortcuts with the keyboard
I wouldn't know if this is good, since I am running on windows like the majority of the world.
An easy to use mind mapping program, that saves me a lot of time during design process of projects. Keep up the good work !!!
I really appreciate the simplicity of this program and the ability to add pictures to my mind maps. I also really like the design (smooth and curved) and colours of the branches.
>I wouldn't know if this is good, since I am running on windows like the majority of the world. You are a lamer! This is open-source project. You can cross-compile this software to windows version, because it uses crossplatform qt-library.
Very useful software. Best OSS mind map I've ever used. One suggestion would be to allow the note editor to be docked into the main window so it can be used more easily when the map is maximized.
This is a fabulous tool for organizing your thoughts, outlining in preparation for writing, reducing handwritten notes to something coherent, and generally sorting out facts. It's lightweight and very quick to use, and the interface is very easy to learn. I use it very regularly, both for personal stuff and in my work.
Not sure if I like VYM or Freemind more. Both are great and either helps me extend the outline I used previously. I would like the ability to edit nodes to more than one line
Hey, I use this cool software every day and it makes my life much easier :-) Have fun!
It clearly organized my thoughts for a planned writing exposition.
the application loads quickly, and it is not lacking behind in main features from FreeMind. Two "papercuts" : The automatic positioning of new nodes could be better, one has to position the nodes manually so they don't obstruct each other. The default keybindings are mostly convenient, but sometimes I felt I wanted to change some keys. (for example, ScrollLock (to toggle "Scroll" a node) is accessible only with a mod-key on my laptop)
