After a long time away from this project I have finally decided to come back to it and complete it. I originally ran into some minor snags as the hardware support for the kind of rendering that I wanted to do would only yield about 10-12 frames/second. Now that I have a higher end workstation I am pushing through full throttle to get an Alpha release for this project. (In case you wanted to know...I am currently achieving over 100 frames/second on my new system) Most all of the technology that is implemented in the VRSEC project has matured to a stable point and many more opportunities have opened up as a result of this. For example, we now have a stable H.323 platform using Gnome Meeting. With such a project VRSEC can now contain Group Video Conferencing in a Virtual Environment. This brings a new level of remote communication to an otherwise "stand alone/self contained" system. Although I would like to have an Alpha release I am still working on coding up the basics of the engine and getting database connectivity established. I will be moving the entire project over to a privately webhosted server shortly and you will be able to monitor a daily to weekly news archive of how the system is progressing once I have the website up and running. If you would like to help out on this project I am in need of a lot of everything. There is always something to do and if you are a technical writer...we can give you a lot to write about. Just send me an email to get started. All the best, David Henry.
