This is not open source software, this is a commercial application and it is very misleading that it is listed on this site.

Choosing VWG reduced significantly the development effort and skills required to create a windows-like web user interface.

I have been a Winforms/Visual Basic developer for 14 years, and the speed with which I was able to create a very complex business-oriented website makes Visual Web GUI a game changer. It is starting to enter a more mature phase, and it is a very powerful project. I am convinced a project a built in one year myself would have taken 18 months with 4 programmers in asp.net. The ajax related issues with asp.net, combined with a complex, windows like interface, keep programmers tied up for endless hours inventing new ways to simulate a good application. Visual Web GUI removes many of the problems that asp.net has. Design what you want on screen, just like Windows apps. Put some logic behind it. Learn some new concepts of web development, such as tracking users, and you essentially can build apps almost as fast as Windows apps. Thousands of dollars will be saved by companies creating business apps with this tool.

Not dishonest, just misleading. You will not get the full capabilities advertised with the OS package (think cloud for instance) nor will you be able to produce a commercial offering. In the short time I had to investigate and measure it against the competition I could find no usergroup or useful help. Quote from the website "VWG is available as a free open source LGPL licensed SDK without designer, in LGPL Express edition with designer for small, non commercial projects and for student and hobbyists, or as fully featured commercial Pro Studio edition. The Pro Studio edition is offered with 24 SLA support." Bottom line: The full blown commercial package looks very good but it 'aint open source.

I would like to address one of the reviews above implying that the project's source is not open. The Visual WebGui versions on SourceForge are completely free and available for download with their source code. Actually, the entire project except from the runtime on the server side is open source, including the SDK, the controls and the runtime on the client.

This project is very misleading. It implies that there is a GUI program that can be used in conjunction with Visual Basic.net to design web apps. After installing and starting Visual Basic, there is no tool bar or icon added to the new projects screen to start a Visual Web GUI project. Nor are there any tools added to the tools menu to add to the tools bar. Such a misleading project should be disqualified for hosting on SourceForge.net. When a website such as SourceForge.net allows misleading projects to be hosted upon it's site, it gives users of SourceForge.net cause to suspect that SourceForge.net is less that completely honest about how it conducts business.
