12/09/2001 First touch on the interface. 23/12/2001 This project scope is getting bigger. That means interface reorganization, new functionalities and cleaner developement. Glade work, for the moment. Today, it compiles, but does nothing. -> v 0.0.0 ... 25/12/2001 Past the empty shell stage: the editor just about works, the main interface is able to open a data list and display its content, entry selection works fine. 26/12/2001 The editor now works completely. The entry list part of the interface is quite ready, and works fine in relation to the editor. What remains to be done is the library part proper, that is, the category classification. -> v 0.0.1 14/04/2002 Library structure completely rewritten, to enable a smooth working of editors. -> v 0.1.0 19/05/2002 Most main window functions now work. As for editors, the entry editor is fine, the category editor works but does not synchronize well with main window. -> v 0.1.1 23/05/2002 All editors OK, but code is a mess. -> v 0.1.2 18/06/2002 Changed noting to functionnality, but reorganized and checked the code. That implies a whole lot of bugfixes. VisLib is now about stable when not searching for weird things. -> v 0.1.3 23/09/2002 Code completely reorganized. All editors stable, search implemented. -> v 1.0.0 28/09/2002 Various bugfixes, Vlb file format extended, search option completed. Dir2Vlb utility completely revised, now handles video thumbnail generation as well. -> v 1.0.1 01/11/2002 Implemented code to remember geometry. Still needs to be fixed, as Gtk is resizing things behind my back. 06/11/2002 Library loading code completely rewritten, using a buffered IO system. This is cleaner, and will be useful for the plugins. ->v 1.0.2

  • VisLib goes on SourceForge

VisLib is a project I started one year ago, to handle my huge collection of desktop backgrounds. The idea was to be able to search for a particular image, with a short textual description, show it and set it as a background, or print it. Now to organize, say, more than 600 images, one needs some sort of hierarchy, or virtual directory system. The early versions were able to do just that. Some development time later, the handling of several type of textual categorization, easy-to-use editing tools, plugins to generate or export the libraries, and much more, has been integrated into vislib. As it is now a functionnal tool, and more development will need efforts and feedback from developpers and users to make it into a well-supported, muli-functionnal visual library browser and editor, I have released it on Sourceforge. Enjoy it, and request, or - better - code yourself, any feature you think usefull. Bug reports, test builds, feedback from the community are all that is needed to make VisLib complete! As I have this week some difficulty releasing code and binaries, you can either find the last stable release at http://varkhan.free.fr/Software/VisLib/ or wait until next week (around 11/11) for the releases on Sourceforge.
