    Sorry for the delay, I've been caught up with a 12TB hardware RAID failure at work (lucky we have a good backup system).

    That looks like an error in your .forward, I think there is meant to be a comma after the user name - like this:

    \chris, "|/usr/bin/vacation chris"

    Try that and let me know how you go..
