Based on certain kind of kaleidoscopes(?), this would replace the entire picture with a curved grid of tiles, repeating on a small part of the original picture (wherever the mouse is; meaning it would animate in a fun way during click-and-drag). It's similar to the "what a fly sees" effect seen in TV and movies. See attached example image.

We can submit Tux Paint to the National Parenting Publication Awards (NAPPA, http://www.parenthood.com/NAPPA/Parenting_Resources_2009.php ). It costs money, though.

First, be sure the locale you want to use is enabled by editing
the file "/etc/locale.gen" on your system and then running the
program "locale-gen" as root.
Note: Debian users may be able to simply run the command
"dpkg-reconfigure locales" as root to bring up a configuration

Language setting does not work in Tux Paint 0.9.20 for Ubuntu 9.10 x64.
I tried setting the languge using command line --lang, using command line --locale, setting language in /etc/tuxpaint/tuxpaint.conf and using tuxpaint-config.
I have tried several languages listed by tuxpaint --lang, but english, which is my system locale setting, is always used.
No warning or error messages are shown...
