Go railfanning on your calculator! The original railfanning game has made its way to several platforms, including the PC.

With the release of version 4.0 today, the network edition has been discontinued because multiplayer support is now bundled with the original game. The special edition for the TI83Plus is no longer available. The plan is to phase the special edition out completely and shift everything to one code base. It may not be possible for all platforms, but time will tell.
The random train generator now takes into account the directional running agreement between CN and CP. The Laggan Sub was tossed, and replaced by the Shuswap Sub on the CP side and Clearwater Sub on the CN side. East of Basque, which is where directional running ends, CN trains take the clearwater Sub and CP trains take the Shuswap Sub. The scorekeeping portion of the game now keeps track of how much thermite you've collected, something which was possible in the special edition if you noticed in the source code that there was a variable for it but that it just wasn't displayed on the score board after the game. ;-) The multiplayer portion of the game has been modified slightly. Instead of cooperative play, you're competing head-to-head with each other, or you can just enjoy the trains. Both players will now see the same trains, which is more realistic.
The year is already more than half over! I just finished fixing the random train generator today, so version 4.0 should be out soon. We're always intrigued when somebody emails us regarding the game. A special hello, or perhaps I should say bonjour, to the folks at TI-Moon. I'm still thinking about finishing the WAP version of the game for all you cell phone people out there. Other than that I've got no definite plans for this project. Check back here towards the end of the month and hopefully I'll have another update by then.
It seems this project is always the first to get put on the backburner when I get busy. A few days ago I got a few ideas to consolidate all three editions into one, so Railfanning on a TI83Plus version 4.0 is in the works. I have cancelled the C++ version, because I ended up not taking a C++ course last year. I also cancelled the Visual Basic version because it's just not feasible to do as good a job on it as I'd like to. I might continue on the WAP version, I don't know. The Java version will probably get cancelled because I don't know enough about applets. That's all for now, check back once a month for further updates.
I'm starting to learn WAP and WML, so I thought it would be good to try code the railfanning game on the cell phone. Thus far it's going well, but testing it is tedious. Keep checking back for updates.
Working on porting the original edition to TI86, but it's not going well. Updated Ada95 original edition to use random train generator. Get it now in the downloads area.
Uses random train generator.
Sorry about the lack of inactivity, but I've been busy with school lately. I've got a lot of other projects I'm working on, but I'll try to release some new versions of the railfanning game before the year is over.
