If you are using the EXT4 filesystem, you can get better MySQL performances by disabling the barrier option:
on /etc/fstab
add the following option on your main disk:
barrier=0.

First of all be sure you are using the latest version.
Then, to select and edit a user you can use the "users > select" page that allows you to filter users for groups or search using keywords.

Hey Nicola,
I have realised that on the admin/code/tce_edit_user.php page there is a user drop down list with all users that have been registered in it.
My query is that if this was deployed in a school wouldn't the list be too big with admin personnel taking ages to go through the whole list to find a user that they wished to edit ?. Is there a way around this issue or has tcexam been...

I have TCExam installed on my PCLinuxOS 2009.2 version and I have added the extra information in the php.ini and the httpd.conf files and I still have the problem of having to login over and over again in the admin area. I have installed via my webbrowser, through the command line, through phpMyAdmin and I still am not able to authenticate or create other users. Would some one help me find that...

The requested feature is independent from TCExam application but strictly depends on OS and Web-Browser setting.
Please search on Google for the "kiosk mode".
