I got better driver results with fc10.i686 and xawtv:

    stk11xx: Frame buffer overflow 8 307202 307200!
    stk11xx: Frame buffer overflow 2518 307202 307200!
    stk11xx: Frame buffer overflow 8 307202 307200!
    stk11xx: Frame buffer overflow 1494 307202 307200!
    stk11xx: Frame buffer overflow 8 307202 307200!
    [root@localhost stk11xx-1.4.0]# xawtv -nodga -device /dev/video0
    This is xawtv-3.95, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.27.21-170.2.56.fc10.i686)
    xinerama 0: 1024x768+0+0
WARNING: No DGA direct video mode for this display.
    /dev/video0 [v4l2]: no overlay support
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
    ioctl: VIDIOC_S_CTRL(id=9963778;value=32767): Erro desconhecido 515
    ioctl: VIDIOC_S_CTRL(id=9963776;value=32767): Erro desconhecido 515
    ioctl: VIDIOC_S_CTRL(id=9963779;value=65535): Erro desconhecido 515
    ioctl: VIDIOC_S_CTRL(id=9963777;value=32767): Erro desconhecido 515

Lookslike v4l2-ioctl has important role in driver compilation.

I can not post an image here but xawtv was set as input 2 while stk-1160 were plugged in input 1. I could see 3 similar images in vertical distortion likes this: ( ||| ).
I don't have images for mplayer or tvtime, both programs only close if stk were unpluged. Tvtime recognizes stk as /dev/video0 input 1 PAL with a black screen
