I discovered SC3 around 2005, and since then it has been the foundation of all my computer music work and sound installations. Although the learning curve can be steep, it certainly is the most powerful and expressive sound synthesis environment around. You won't want to go back to anything else after you dive into it.

A highly expressive sound synthesis language. Don't feel disappointed if it takes some time to learn -- you won't learn a musical instrument in a fortnight either...
