ss fails with error "Permission denied at /usr/lib/sudoscript/Sudoscript.pm line 306."
This is caused by 640 permissions on /var/run/sudoscriptd.pid. Permissions need to be 644.

Subject says it all.
FreeBSD's ps output is formatted so that if users with long names have processes running, "sudoscriptd" can become truncated, sudoshell will not see that it is in fact running, and will subsequently fail to start.

Sudoscriptd leaves defunct processes.. This seems to
happen when users who are using sudoshell (ss -u
) then exit unexpectedly.. This can
be done by doing the following:
1. Login to a server(solaris/aix) with ssh
2. start a new sudoshell session (ss -u
3. exit ssh by hitting ~.
When you log back in, you will notice a defunct
process.
Cheers.
