Track spitting based on cues?

  1. 2009-10-11 17:38:48 UTC

An Internet station doing talk radio is surprisingly kind: despite their loud, annoying commercials, they will switch the stream metadata exactly when they go to a commercial break ("-BREAK 60-" at the top of the hour and "-BREAK 30-" at the half hour) and switch it back to their banner when they resume.

I am hoping to just automatically filter out commericals, but what values I have played with for silence detection don't make it do the right thing. If there is a silence, it is a fraction of a millisecond, because the "intro music" and commerical just before it are both quite loud.

Any suggestions for values, or how to make streamripper just follow the cues blindly?
