StaxRip does not lurk for existing components but installs duplicates of any related package, including avisynth and VirtualDubMod :(( 2011 turned out to be the year of a clear decision towards a free video standard. The website of Staxrip does not mention any of those crucial events, it is unchanged since 2010. The software does not contain the important keyword VP8, although it uses VP8 under "webm" as coDec name. In fact, it did misbehave in my case and even converted audio into 48kHz that was meant to be remuxed only. I ended up once more having spent a couple of hours just to convert a video. Staxrip helped promoting the common solution of just uploading anything to youTube and basta.
