This project is to design a Gnome/GTK based fax application aimed at gnomeoffice. It provides a front-end for mgetty+sendfax (including full configuration), and can act as a fax interface for openoffice.org and fax to e-mail interface.

Changes in 1.5 "Hazelnut" - fixed saving of faxes as pdf. - added options for user/group/permissions when new_fax is saving a fax. This as otherwise the fax gets saved as root:root with permissions like "600", that means normally the user has no access to their own saved faxes. - many small changes in the code, mostly syntactical and layout improvements. - when starting up, the first fax will be selected. - after deleting a fax, the next file in line will be selected. - redesigned the settings window. - added separate port settings for sending and receiving faxes. - added e-mail notify setting for mgetty. - fixed page selection: it works again. - added email2fax gateway, accepts ps and pdf files e-mailed to it. Uses procmail as interface to catch the e-mails. - pdf and ps files are now converted to g3; landscape pages are rotated to portrait in the process for proper faxing. - very very serious cleanup of the scripts; cut the number of separate scripts; added more comments; cleaned up the layout of the code. - split sqfaxconfig into sqfaxconfig and sqfaxconfigui, so the config can be accessed when running without display (such as the email2fax script). - moved system-wide squirrelfax config files to the /etc directory where they belong. - removed scanner stuff - xsane is doing this much better. - added warning when trying to re-send a fax that can not be read. - merged new_fax config into the main config file; now there is only one system wide config file (/etc/sqfax.conf) and one local config file (~/.sqfax/sqfax.conf). - install.py now also uses the sqfaxconfig and sqfaxconfigui modules for the basic config settings, and for getting the password and so. - disabled firsttime as it doesn't do anything good now. Have to check on the wizard, whether that works again, and otherwise just forget about it. - now installs squirrelfax in /usr/local/lib/sqfax instead of /usr/local/share/sqfax. Better location.

Changes in 1.5 "Hazelnut" "Release Candidate 1" (rc1) (released 29 Aug 2005) - overhaul of the configuration files and setting of default values. - removed all Hylafax related support, as it was broken and incomplete anyway. Now only support for mgetty+sendfax as fax agent. - rewrite and general fix of many parts of the scripts. - added support for Evolution-2 addressbook, reads all address books if there are more than one. - added fax thumbnailing. - double clicking the fax now opens it in gv. - settings dialogue reworked, now all in one. - password is kept, now you only have to give it once in a session, not time and again. There is quite some sanity checking done on the different options, so this should be safe. - dropped the druid for firsttime installation as it is still broken in pygtk, now the user gets the main settings dialogue after installation. - all settings are now accessed from a single settings dialogue. No separate new_fax settings option anymore. - added fax preview (only the first page of the fax) to the main interface. - rewrite of the code to get the sent faxes, it is now fast. - fixed "send pages" part, can now select which pages of a received fax to resend. - can print directly from the main interface, on the default printer only for now. No printer settings available. - redesigned complete main user interface window, it's got a more gtk2 look. - checks on a whole lot of dependencies, including mgetty+sendfax, some graphics tools, scanner and printer software. Refuses to install if one or more of these tools are not found (to be improved in future version as not all dependencies are mandatory; make some optional). - scanning now allows for user defined options: command line options to be added to scanimage when scanning a page to be faxed. - when installing squirrelfax: owner of received fax is set to the user installing SquirrelFax, group is not changed. The permission of the received fax is set to 0640, the permissions of the received fax directory to 777. - new menu option: File>Properties, showing some technical properties of sent and received faxes.
