SPINA (structure parameter inference approach) is a method for calculating constant structure parameters of endocrine feedback control systems from serum or plasma hormone levels obtained in vivo.
SPINA Thyr, SPINA's first implementation, allows for calculating the thyroid's maximum stimulated secretory capacity (GT or SPINA-GT) and the sum activity of peripheral 5'-deiodinases (GD or SPINA-GD) from levels of TSH, (F)T4 and (F)T3 that have been determined only once.
The recommended way to install SPINA Thyr on Windows-based computers is to use the provided installer. For special requirements, e.g. for installation on computers without administrative rights, also a portable application is provided. In order to install the portable version simply drag the application file from the archive to the desired location on your file system. You may even start SPINA portable directly from a web server (depending from the settings of your browser). This may have advantages e.g. for hospitals and computer resource centers.
In order to install SPINA Thyr on Mac OS X, simply double click the DMG file and drag the application file from its window to the desired location on your file system. SPINA Thyr for Mac doesn't come with and doesn't require an installer. It may also be used as a portable application that is started from USB sticks, CDs, server volumes or other media.
On Linux, please download the source code and compile it for your processor and operating system with Lazarus / Free Pascal.
SPINA Thyr for Palm OS and Garnet OS requires downloading the PRC file to your computer and syncing with your handheld or phone.
SPINA Thyr 3.4 for Mac supports Mac OS X 10.4 or newer on systems with PPC processors or Mac OX X 10.6 or newer on Macs with Intel processors, respectively. Mac OS Classic is supported by SPINA Thyr version 3.1, Mac OS X 10.0 to 10.3 by the legacy version SPINA Thyr 2.3 only.
SPINA Thyr 3.4 for Windows has been developed for Windows XP and was successfully tested on various Windows versions including Windows 2000 and Windows 7.
In order to use SPINA on Linux please download the source code and compile it for your processor and operating system with Lazarus / Free Pascal. The required versions are Lazarus 1.2.2 and Free Pascal 2.6.4 or newer.
SPINA Thyr 3.2 for Palm OS and Garnet OS is compatible with Palm OS 3.5 or newer and any version of Garnet OS. Color, high-resolution screens and jog dials are supported, where available.
S scripts support vectorized calculations in S3-capable S implementations, e.g. R 2.10 or newer.
