SPINA (structure parameter inference approach) is a method for calculating constant structure parameters of endocrine feedback control systems from serum or plasma hormone levels obtained in vivo.
SPINA Thyr, SPINA's first implementation, allows for calculating the thyroid's maximum stimulated secretory capacity (GT) and the sum activity of peripheral 5'-deiodinases (GD) from levels of TSH, (F)T4 and (F)T3 that have been determined only once.
In order to install the program on Mac or Windows computers, simply drag the application file from the zip or BinHex package to the desired location on your file system. SPINA doesn't come with and doesn't require an installer. It may also be used as a portable application that is started from USB sticks, CDs, server volumes or other media. On Linux, please download the source code and compile it for your processor and operating system with Lazarus / Free Pascal. SPINA for Palm OS and Garnet OS requires downloading the PRC file to your computer and syncing with your handheld or phone.
SPINA Thyr 3.3 for Mac supports Mac OS X 10.4 or newer on systems with either Intel or PPC processors. Mac OS Classic is supported by SPINA Thyr version 3.1, Mac OS X 10.0 to 10.3 by the legacy version SPINA Thyr 2.3 only. SPINA Thyr 3.3 for Windows has been developed for Windows XP and was successfully tested also on Windows 2000 and Windows 7. In order to use SPINA on Linux please download the source code and compile it for your processor and operating system with Lazarus / Free Pascal. SPINA Thyr 3.2 for Palm OS and Garnet OS is compatible with Palm OS 3.5 or newer and any version of Garnet OS. Color, high-resolution screens and jog dials are supported, where available.
S scripts support vectorized calculations in S3-capable S implementations, e.g. R 2.10 or newer.
A note on SPINA Thyr 3.3.1 on Mac OS X:
Due to requirements of code signing the global ID (CFBundleIdentifier) was changed. Please use the attached AppleScript (Copy Preferences) in order to use the preferences of SPINA Thyr 3.3.
