There is a bus error when no preprocessor is given. For example these 2 examples crash Snort :
# colon in wrong place
preprocessor: portscan 192.168.70.172/24 5 7 portscan.log
# no preprocessor given

My mysql server has been having problems lately where it would crash. After it recovers from the crash, snort can never reconnect to the database, and must be manually restarted.
Snort version is 2.8.0.1
libmysqlclient15off 5.0.32-7etch3
mysql-server 5.0.32-7etch3

Sometime ago, we were using a openbsd box with snort to parse
openbsd's pflogs and that was working fine, but recently we move to a
linux box, and snort was not able to parse that correctly anymore.
Investigating the source, I found quite a few issues:
- openbsd pfloghdr changed, and snort PflogHdr is no longer up-to-date
with that...

Hi,
just installed snort on redhat enterprise workstation
v4 and this is the error that i got when i click on the
graphic alert. please help. thanks.
PHP ERROR: PHP build incomplete: the prerequisite GD
support required to generate
graphs was not built into PHP.
Please recompile PHP with the necessary library
(--with-gd)

i have Version 2.6.0 (Build 59), libprelude-0.9.9,
libpreludedb-0.9.8.1 prelude-lml-0.9.5 the latest
rules for snort, and linux redhat ES 4.
when snort -c /etc/snort/snort.conf -i eth0 i have
the result : ERROR: unknown output plugin:
'alert_prelude'Fatal Error
in snort.conf (version Snort 2.6.0 config file) :
output alert_prelude: profile=snort
in the result of ./configure ...
