Awesome Project. I've been using smoothwall to protect my home network for almost 10 years now. Became painfully aware of all the networking problems with connecting to the internet when I first setup my Microsoft Small Business Server and connected it to the internet....wow......it was like the worlds biggest and only honey pot....the server was completely invaded and contaminated in two days...just two days. So I had to have a greater piece of protect. Initial research led me to believe that I needed a firewall appliance in the price range of 10,000 to 15,000 USD to protect my network........then someone pointed me to Smoothwall and I have not looked back since. Smoothwall has so impressed me with its level of security.....that I completely dumped all microsoft networking products....server..email...webserver...the whole shibang right into the toilet....and I replaced it all with Linux networking solutions. FYI..Smoothwall is a Linux based security solution that is rock-solid...and it runs on older hardware...with very small hardware requirements. My Smoothwall is currently running on an old Pentium-3 system that I have placed three PCI dLink NIC's into and it is very very fast.....:) I would strongly recommend that anyone who hooks up their systems to the internet get and place a Smoothwall security system between their internal network and their isp's modem. Cheers.

IWF was established in 1996 by the UK internet industry and works in partnership with the wider online industry, law enforcement, government, the education sector, charities, international partners and the public to minimise the availability of content within its remit. As a result of this self-regulatory approach, less than 1% of online child sexual abuse content has apparently been hosted in the UK since 2003, down from 18% in 1997. Through the internet Hotline reporting system, the IWF helps the online industry combat abuse of its services through a ‘notice and takedown’ initiative by alerting them to potentially criminal content within IWF’s remit on their systems and enabling the police to investigate those responsible. This self-regulatory partnership approach is widely recognised as a model of good practice in combating the abuse of technology for the dissemination of criminal online content.
