Slackel is a Linux distribution based on Slackware and includes tools borrowed from Salix. It is fully compatible with Slackware but the difference is that it includes the current version of Slackware. So Slackware users can benefit from Slackel repositories. Slackel disc images can be used in two different forms, Installation disc image and Live disc image. Slackel can be installed on external storage media (e.g. USB sticks, USB hard drives etc.)

Slackel is developed in Greece by Dimitris Tzemos.

Slackel means Greek Slackware. Slackware + Hellenic (Greek).
Slackel's goal is to be a stable, fast and light distribution. Slackel is multilingual.

Features

  • Openbox, MATE

User Reviews

  • Sort of the up-to-date slackware presently (2018). So, like slackware, but up to date. :)
  • nice distro
  • Nice good looking and easy to use I would install it when my sound was working (hdmi with intel sst audio and realtek codec ) more linux versions not work with this either but I like slackel and for now runing from flash drive silence )
  • This is basically Salix, but based on the "current" Slackware repositories, which means it provides more recent versions of kernel and packages (essentially a "rolling release"). In short: Can be easily installed on a hard disk, or "persistent" on a USB stick for portability (this is different than a "live CD"), or you can just use the live CD/USB for testing. Provides package dependency maintenance, full multimedia features, and extra packages in Slackel repositories. Friendly developer who will answer any questions you may have in a matter of a few hours at most. All in all, a very nice distribution.
  • Excellent !!!
