    Yes, on RH and FC has a problem about where the libraries should be installed on 64 bits systems. Install on /usr/lib instead /usr/lib64 But, yes, you need to copy to /usr/lib/64, that is the correct way.

    The crash after should be another reason.

    please run with debug pidgin -d > output.log After you attatch the output.log in this place (in the bugs seccion may be).
