Simply GNUstep

Hi,
I finally got the debian sarge up and running with windowmaker. (I am not a linux guru but this sarge netinstall is a nightmare-terribly bad installer).
I also did the apt-get install sgstep-meta-user and developer commands.
And what's next? Sorry to trouble you but either I did something wrong or the install process because all of the stuff are now in the / directory instead of under /usr/.. something.
Also the openapp command won't work. When I try to run an app from it's dir it would not run and would complain about not finding fonts and then they exit.

Any suggestions?
