I need feedback. Sparing you the detailed history, I've been working on Shoutbox for a while; I decided that I'd scrap Shoutbox 2, and start from the ground up with Shoutbox 3. It isn't an easy task, though, and I'm not entirely certain what I want to do with it and how I want to proceed. I've greated a diagram to map out how I'm going to implement it. For the non-technically-enclined people, I doubt it's really readable, so what I'm going to ask is this: * For existing users, what part of the shoutbox (aside it's basic functionality) did you like the most? * For exisiting users, what really needed to be added to the shoutbox, aside from anti-spam measures? * What do you think the focus on such a script should be - small size and simplicity, or customization and capability? * Should I bother making the shoutbox compatible with integration (e.g. PostNuke/PHPNuke/etc. blocks)? For those of you who've designed programs or are technically enclined, please take a look at the diagram. ( http://keilaron.homelinux.org/den/uploads/shoutbox-diagram.png ) * Aside from missing constructors and general this-is-not-a-true-diagram comments, what do you think is missing from here? What functions should(n't) be included? * How should the shoutbox plug-ins be implemented? Should they be implemented at all? * What, aside basic functionality (and anti-spam), do you think should be focused on? You can all be as detailed, lengthy and technical as you want of course - I'm looking for feedback, after all. Don't be shy to rattle on about it for paragraphs at length. And please, tell others you think may be interested in giving their two cents on the project.
