Gnutella is still the best (how long has it been?) and Shareaza is a fantastic client.

The multi-network support is very handy for finding rare files, and the ability to preview files before downloading lets you know it's what you're looking for. You're also able to share files directly with people via magnet links so you don't have to look through unrelated search results for that one file your buddy has.

This program is amazing, you can connect to multiple networks (GNUTELLA y eDONKEY) and download files from both networks at the same time besides you can use it to download bit torrents and preview videos and songs (before they are completely downloaded) on its integrated video player. Notice it is M-U-L-T-I-N-E-T-W-O-R-K NOT M-U-L-T-I-P-L-A-T-F-O-R-M

BitTorrent & IRC works better. G2 is the fastest place for torrents searching, and then you can download it via BitTorrent in the same one easy interface in Shareaza. Use 2.4.0.4 = 2.4.1.0 RC (Release Candidate)! Not 2.4.0.0, as it is already a historical one, however last official release. But 2.4.0.4 works much better. Look for "Debug builds" link at the bootom of download subpage. Happy Sharing!

although i give it a thumbs up because it is the best client out there, why is it that any word I search for under Any File Type always has a hit of "sex.girls.xxx.(word)"? Is this version starting to carry unwanted malware?

I've been using Shareaza for the longest time. I started using on the recommendation of a techie about 12 years ago. Has it been that long?! Initially, the consensus was: Use Shareaza for smaller files and turn off it's bit torrent features and use a dedicated bt client. I don't remember whether I've ever used anything other than BitTornado (for any length of time), but that's what I've used for a long, long time. And it's served me well, even if Shareaza is now safe to use. (I don't mean 'safe' exactly.) I am a very, very light user of Shareaza actually. I download more television shows and movies than I do smaller mp3 files. Even then, I don't go crazy downloading. I download a few shows I watch and the odd movie. I'm finding my returns with Shareaza to be very unsatisfactory (sometimes). And it may have absolutely nothing to do with Shareaza. Shareaza is neutral, I realize. The crap that's out there is the crap that's out there (like Limewire returns that tell you to do something to remove their ads, lol!) Seeing how I don't know how to tweak and do port forwarding (and can't play with much anyway, since I'm getting free wifi and the equipment is in some apartment I don't have access to), I have to put my sad returns down to the crap out there and, perhaps, to my 64 bit pc on which my 32 bit Shareaza is installed. But Shareaza has been a major contributor to this person's sanity (the music), for which I'll always be grateful. I'm dirt poor and can't donate. I don't even have a credit card. But I would if I could.
