  • iPhone 4 And PC's Don't See Shairport4w

    Hi Folks, Shairport4w is just what I need but can't get it to work. All PC's and iPhone 4 are on the same network. Using an ordinary router not the AirPort Express. It's using 802.11g type wireless and is encrypted. I have Shairport4w on one of the PC's and iTunes on that PC can see Shairport4w but nothing else on the network can see it neither the iPhone 4 or other PC's. I have even...

    First off, great piece of software. I installed this yesterday and immediately fell in love however after about an hour or so things went south. Currently I am able to use shairport as long as the source iTunes (windows or mac), so as far as software setup, firewall config and everything else discussed here things are fine.     Hi, I installed shairpoint4w on my Home Server. But if I try to start anything from my iPad it doesn't work. I configured the firewall with an inbound rule on Port 5000, so I guess that all should be fine. hope you can help me Stephan.

    I'm having issues as well. I'm connectected to a netgear router on a windows desktop, and running IOS 5.1. Shairport works great when running voiceover on my IPhone. When I go to unlock my phone, the stream buffers badly and does come back, but sometimes crashes shairport when the buffering starts. I've asked other blind people and they don't have the issue. What should I do?.

    Ok, that helps a little, but still doesn't explain why it popped up in the first place. I was listening to a stream. There was nobody using the computer, so nobody hit the "advanced" or "Change..." buttons. The computer in question is a server in my basement. Not one that anyone ever uses interactively.

    "Elevation" is part of the "User Account Control" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Account_Control Software will be restarted with Admin privileges. This happens choosing "Advanced..." menu item. Or the clicking "Change..." button.
