    I've just updated from cvs and had no problems using automake1.7 1.7.9.-12 under Fedora. Maybe you should try a fresh cvs checkout.

    FYI, I've also updated the linux compile instructions in the wiki. I've added information on how to compile the io_shapes_las and the pj_geotrans module in case you like to use them.
