KoolBASIC is a brand new open source subset of the BASIC programming language. The first release, Pre-Alpha 1, was be released on Monday, September 23rd, 2002. Developed by programmer Jared Ingersol, a beta version will soon follow in late spring 2003. KoolBASIC will be similar to another language, RapidQ-BASIC, which was created by programmer William Yu. Yu left the community in 2000 without releasing source code to his language. KoolBASIC is also based on top of KoolB, a compiler by Brian Becker, who also helped Jared get KoolBASIC on its' feet. An IDE (Integrated Development Environment) with a form designer and code editor is also under development, and pre-Alpha versions of it have been released. View screenshots and read about the IDE. While Pre-Alpha and Alpha downloads are available in the downloads section, they should not be considered 'complete' releases.
There are so many changes of course as this is a brand new release. (Pre Alpha 1). Stay tuned.

KoolBASIC is currently being developed by Jared and Brian. Expect an alpha release in late 2002 or early 2003, and a pre-alpha release in late fall/early winter 2002.
