Release 3.04 includes an easy way to authenticate to a mail server when the SMTP option for sending email messages has been choosen. More info at http://ringlink.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=31 The format of the template variables was changed in Release 3.03, which also includes an updated Turkish language file. Release 3.02 fixes an embarrassing bug in version 3.01 of rlmain.pm. The only changes in Release 3.01 are a couple of clarifications to prevent problems in connection with upgrades. Significant changes in Release 3.0 are: - Built-in routine for listing the rings on a system. - Publicly available tool for searching a ring. - Template based customization of the output (previous template files have been exchanged for 'real' templates). - The current number of member sites can be displayed on the ring homepages. More info at http://ringlink.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=27 Release 2.51 takes care of a bug, that was implemented in release 2.5. More info at http://ringlink.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=25 A new page for displaying summary ring stats is the principal new feature in Release 2.5. More info at http://ringlink.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=24 A translation into Chinese (Big5) was added in Release 2.41. Changes in Release 2.4 are: - Feature in 'Ring management' for submitting a ring to the Ringlink Webring Directory via a prefilled form - Instant access to the 'Site admin' menu after a site submission - Security and performance improvements More info at http://ringlink.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=19 Only cosmetic changes in Release 2.37. The look of the buttons can now be controlled via the style sheets in admhtml.pm and mailhtml.pm. Also, a few adjustments have been made to make the output better rendered by certain browsers. Changes in Release 2.36 are: - example.php has been modified, so that it also works with other languages than Western European. - The output from Ringlink shall now be 100% compliant with both XHTML 1.0 Transitional and CSS. The method for printing the output was slightly changed in Release 2.35, aiming to make it easier to integrate Ringlink with e.g. PHP supported sites, or other sites consisting of program generated pages. More info at http://arc.ringlink.org/ringlink-open/msg02361.html In Release 2.34 an option was added for a ringmaster to download backup files in .tar[.gz/.Z] format. It's useful for those ringmasters, who host their rings on Unix platform systems without access to the zlip compression library. Release 2.33 comes with some useful news for those who run Ringlink on servers with insufficient software installed. More info at http://arc.ringlink.org/ringlink-open/msg02329.html Two things in Release 2.32 worth mentioning: - admin.pl can be run even on systems where the Perl module Compress::Zlip is missing (zip files cannot be handled, though) - More illuminative error messages if the paths to the data directory or sendmail are incorrect Release 2.31 includes a couple of features to facilitate moving of rings between different Ringlink systems. It's further explained at http://arc.ringlink.org/ringlink-open/msg02313.html Release 2.3 comes with a platform independent backup option for the system owners. In addition to that, now a ringmaster can backup the data for his/her ring. More info at http://arc.ringlink.org/ringlink-open/msg02312.html For information about the news in release 2.2, see http://arc.ringlink.org/ringlink-open/msg02262.html Principal news in release 2.1: - Feature in 'Ring admin' for searching sites in a ring - Multiple ringmaster email addresses can be registered - Notification to the ringmaster when a member changes a site - Backup/restore feature for the system owner - Turkish translation made available See http://arc.ringlink.org/ringlink-open/msg02053.html for details. With release 2.02 the German and Russian translations were made available. Release 2.01 includes a couple of bug fixes: - Fixed the problem with editing the English language file. - This release shall work with cgiwrap. Principal new features in release 2.0: - Ringlink 2.0 is multilingual, i.e. translations to other languages than English can be easily done by creating special language files, one file per language. - It's possible to run Ringlink 2.0 under Apache mod_perl, and with that reduce the server load and increase performance. See http://www.gunnar.cc/ringlink/mailarc/msg01849.html for details.
