ResizeThingy is a Windows Vista replacement for Windows XP Image Resizer PowerToy. The Image Resizer PowerToy in Winows XP was not compatible with Windows Vista, so I wrote this tool in C# that takes its place. It resizes an image to 800x600 and is aspec

I cleaned up the downloadable revisions so that only the cleanest revision - version 0.4 is available for download. Please give it a try and tell me what you think. ResizeThingy is a Microsoft Windows Vista PowerToy replacement for Image Resizer which never worked under Vista.
I drew up my vision for the future version of ResizeThingy as a Visio flow chart and posted it under, Code :: SVN Browse :: Future_ResizeThingy_FlowChart.vsd.
I Created a mirror of this project on CodePlex, Microsoft's Open Source development project site. There's only 2550 projects there so far, and the interface is a lot slower to use and they don't have SVN or CVS, etc, etc... Anyhow, here's the URL: http://www.codeplex.com/resizethingy -Brian
I created the Windows Vista PowerToy, ResizeThingy because the Windows XP PowerToy Image Resize does not install on Windows Vista, and Windows Vista was missing an image resizer type tool. Really this is spouse driven development becasue after we upgraded to Windows Vista, my wife asked me where the Image Resizer was - since she didn't see it on the context (right-click) menu. I didn't see a suitable tool anywhere and she didn't want to launch XnView or Paint just to resize an image, and I had never written anything in C# so ResizeThingy was born. Hope you get some good use out of it. Brian Jester
OK, I have to eat humble pie, here. I released 0.2 and 0.3 and they didn't work on Windows Vista - hey isn't that the whole point of this project? Yep, and my mistake, I did all the development on my Windows XP box and didn't bother to do the regression testing on the actual platform, thus breaking a Microsoft in-house rule to "always use the platform that you are developing for". Please enjoy, Release 0.4 works. Let me know if the installer using AutoIT is a little awkward or non-intuitive. -Brian
I added a Microsoft Installation (MSI) file, to ease installation of ResizeThingy. In Revision 0.1, the user had to manually run a Registry file and manually associate the JPG file with an application. In Revisions 0.2 and 0.3, I install the application for the user and kick off a compiled AutoIT3 script that asks the user to verify the "Open With" property for a JPG. This greatly simplifies the installation procedure and increases the user's chance for success. I also updated the documentation to reflect Revsions 0.2 and 0.3, and I wrote a requirements doc that describes what's required to run ResizeThingy - which is Windows Vista and .NET Framework Version 2.0 or greater.
Added screen shot of context (right-click) menu.
I uncovered why some installations of Resize Thingy were not showing "ResizeThingy" on the context (right-click) menu, after the ResizeThingy.reg file was run. JPG's must be associated with Microsoft Photo Editor for Resize Thingy to work. I've documented all this in the Installation procedures you'll find under the Documentation tab.
